DAS KAUFHAUS not only offers secondhand fashion, furniture or household appliances but is also doing a lot to help disabled, disadvantaged or low-income people. In total there are five social department stores like DAS KAUFHAUS in the greater Stuttgart area, where they employ about 80 people. In addition to that, profits from their sales are invested in the creation of even more jobs.
DAS KAUFHAUS is an “inclusive business” which means they offer training and employment opportunities for people with or without a disability. In addition to fair prices, they support low-income people in a spirit of solidarity. By presenting the bonus card of the city of Stuttgart, you can get an additional discount of 30 percent on all used items.
International action
It might be a local business, with donations from the region around Stuttgart, but DAS KAUFHAUS also supports an international project through the aid organization “Brot für die Welt”. This project supports waste collectors in Brazil and helps to improve their working and living conditions.
And of course, you will have heard about the advantages of buying second hand before: by shopping at DAS KAUFHAUS you are not only supporting its employees, but also the environment and your own wallet. You are saving water, chemicals and thousands of kilometers that a new piece of clothing would usually take before you can buy it in store.

The “Forum im Kaufhaus” aims to set cultural, socio-political and spiritual impulses in this diverse environment. This includes readings, lectures, discussions, concerts, devotions and church services. Admission to all events is free.
